As Coachella kick started festival season, many music lovers around the world are in search for the next life changing festival experience. Coachella, Ultra, and EDC usually take the title when it comes to being the top festivals throughout the states but many don’t know that festival season runs all summer throughout the entire world. With so little knowledge about these other mystery festivals, Sintillia has created a checklist for those who are willing to travel the world to find the best music festivals this summer in 2015.
Sasquatch, Washington:
Sasquatch festival share some festival similarities to Coachella — similarities in such that you will most definitely be seeing crochet tops and ripped jeans but is known for being one of the biggest indie-rock festivals in North America. This festival features act acts such as Mumford & Sons and Sigur Ros. The open-air Gorge Amphitheater venue is set against the beautiful backdrop of the Columbia River. This year this festival will kick off Memorial Day Weekend (May 22-25, 2015) and the line up will include Milky Chance, Of Monsters and Men, Schoolboy Q, and The Knocks.
Firefly Music Festival, Delaware:
This music festival was produced with the hopes of having “an open-air festival on the East Coast with plenty of outdoor camping, much like the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee”. Firefly Music Festival is a premier music experience set among lush wooded landscapes, featuring renowned headliners and emerging artists. This summer this music festival will take place June 18th to the 21st with Snoop Dogg, Zedd, and Paul McCartney being part of the line up!
Montreal International Jazz Festival, Canada:
Oo Canada! Held in June and July every year, the Montreal International Jazz Festival turns Montreal into a huge jazz venue drawing millions over the course of ten days— attracting the biggest names in jazz. The fest features genres such as rock, pop and every other genre you could possibly dream of — such as blues, Latin jazz, soul, Brazilian, Cuban, African, R'n'B, reggae and electronica. This year the Jazz Festival will run from June 26 to July 5 with pre-opening shows anticipated on June 25 and the best part most the shows are FREE!
Calvi On The Rocks, Corsica:
Calvi On The Rocks Festival is one of the most unique open-air electronic music festivals in Europe. Held on the french island of Corsica, this festival is primarily attended by French festival-goers and features beachside performances. Calvi On The Rocks features numerical arts, electronic music and Corsican art of living. As Negin Mirsalehi puts it this festival is “refreshing and different” giving you a cultural laid back experience. This year Calvi on The Rocks will take place on July 3rd to July 8th. Lollapalooza, Chicago:
Lollapalooza Festival is more than just a music festival. Taking place each year in Grant Park, Lolla — in shorter terms — is a three day cultural experience that takes place on 115 acres between Downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan. This festival draws some of the biggest names in music from a variety of different music genres from rock to rap. Lollapalooza is so popular that it also hosts partner festivals in Chile and Brazil! This year, Lolla will begin on July 31st to August 2. Lineup includes Bassnectar, The Weekend, A$AP Rocky, G-Easy, Florence + the Machine and many more.
